In June of 2011, MC Lyte became the first African-American female president of the LA Chapter of the Grammy organization. While holding this post for two years, Lyte’s main goals were to increase membership in the organization and to educate members and non-members about all the great work the organization does. Having successfully served her term, MC Lyte later served as a trustee in the chapter and was actively involved in the decision making process for issues that impact the world of music.
The annual Grammy Awards show is what the Grammy Organization is most known for, but the organization works year round to raise awareness and funds for the various needs of musicians and does quite a bit to give back to the community. Here’s a short list of those efforts:
