    • MC Lyte headlines the annual EBONY (magazine) Black Family Reunion summer tour series, along with several other national acts.
    • MC Lyte again joins RUSSELL SIMMONS & DR. BEN CHAVIS’ Hip Summit Action Network Nationwide tour.
    • MC Lyte served as keynote speaker (along w DICK GREGORY) at the NAACP southern region conference in Little Rock, Ark.

2000 – 2007

  • MC LYTE becomes the FIRST female solo rapper to be honored on the renowned VH1 HIP HOP HONORS!!!
  • MC Lyte donated the original manuscript from her first book, “JUST MY TAKE”, to the Smithsonian Institute’s HIP HOP time capsule exhibit.
  • In 2006 MC Lyte officially released her self-published literary work, “JUST MY TAKE”, words of inspiration & poetry for today’s Hip Hop generation.
  • MC Lyte performed on the EBONY BLACK FAMILY REUNION TOUR w Dougie Fresh, Slick Rick, Whodini & a host of others.
  • Also, 2006 brought on the new relationship between MC Lyte & two non profit charity organizations, ARP, the aids responsibility project, Lyte hosted the ARP/Toronto, World AIDS conf. event. This along with W.O.W., another grassroots AIDS awareness org. These affiliations continue the many years of MC Lyte & community awareness/involvement.
  • In 2005 the evolution continued… legendary rap artist, MC Lyte (Lana Moorer) continued to evolve as an entertainer with a recurring role on UPN’s popular primetime sitcom “Half & Half” as “Ky” the record company President.
  • 2005 also saw the unveiling of The Lana Moorer Collection featuring household items specially designed and inspired by MC LYTE.
  • 2004 MC Lyte was also nominated for a BET Award for “Ride Wit Me” and performed live during the BET Award Tribute to Hip Hop.
  • In 2003 MC Lyte along with her partner/manager created “SGI/CMM”, an independent joint venture record label to release “DA Undaground Heat Vol. 1, hosted by Jamie Foxx. This project is distributed through I music/artist direct/BMG
  • The first single from this critically acclaimed CD, “RIDE WIT ME” has garnered this rap legend her second career GRAMMY AWARD NOMINATION (Best Female Rap Solo Performance) against Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, Lil’ Kim and Da Brat.
